We constructed a one car garage on an floating Alaskan slab and used roof trusses for a Salt Box effect. An Alaskan slab was used because the garage was not attached to the house. It is also less expensive than a frost wall foundation.
To minimize the amount of snow and rain falling to the front of the garage, we designed the garage with a Salt Box profile. This design directs most of the the snow and rain to the rear of the building.
The garage is close to the road and below the road. Directing snow and rain to the back also solved drainage and snow removal problems.
